In Akureyri, Iceland, Recruit and Retain – Making it Work has provided a new opportunity to enhance the cooperation between the hospital and the community when it comes to recruiting people. Recently this model was tried when an interested doctor, together with his family, had an informal meeting with personnel from the municipality. The purpose of this meeting was to provide him and his family with information about the possibilities concerning social and cultural life, nurseries, schools etc. This was very successful and both the staff at the municipality and the family where very pleased. Hopefully something that will be effective in the future.
